USALCO Modesto Plant, LLC is a major unit within the manufacturing network of a leading provider of aluminum-based component products used in water treatment, pulp and paper manufacturing, the making of catalysts for oil refining, the housing market and other sectors. The right individual will have a can-do attitude, the ability to be part of a team while operating independently, and consistently performs to very high standards.

JOB SUMMARY:

The person in this role will play a crucial part in our manufacturing operations by determining the quantity and order date for products and materials needed to meet the Production Schedule. You will be responsible for creating orders, managing raw material demand and the scheduling all logistics assets. As a Planner/Schedule, you will analyze data, make decisions, and troubleshoot problems related to inventory levels, shortages, production scheduling, capacity and logistics, while assuring compliance is achieved in all company associated policies. The position requires a motivated, detail oriented, hands-on, and results driven team player who:

  • Incorporates safety and quality into every decision while performing day-to-day activities.
  • Maintains superior communications with Manufacturing, Quality, Transportation, Customer Service, Engineering and outside vendors.
  • Can efficiently manage personnel, chemical processes, and equipment reliability to meet manufacturing specifications for maximizing productivity without compromising safety or quality.
  • Will actively seek out opportunities for process improvement and take full responsibility for collaborating with management and peers.

The individual will be a team player who is at their best when working with others to develop and manage the day-to-day scheduling at the Site.

This person must be personally and professionally motivated to work constructively with team members at all levels within the company, to execute job responsibilities, and work cooperatively to support production and business initiatives. Safety, Quality, and Productivity are paramount concerns.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBITIES:

  1. Ensure all Site safety rules, work guidelines/practices, and procedures are followed while performing duties.
  2. Plan and schedule activities for assigned products/product lines
  3. Dispatch railcars, bulk tankers, and LTL shipments update internal/external customers on delivers as needed
  4. Act on ERP recommendations, internal business knowledge, current inventory levels, and product lead times
  5. Achieve performance targets and objectives to maintain service and inventory levels, while minimizing instances of backorders
  6. Provide administrative support for all office functions, ERP order processing, purchase ordering, and data system tracking
  7. Develop the weekly Production Plan for assigned work center.
  8. Develop improved functional processes for improved administrative workflows
  9. Assist with monthly inventory counts and identify inventory variance
  10. Act as a back-up to the On-site Administrator
  11. Determine capacity volumes and manage capacity of assigned work centers
  12. Recommend updates to product standards and review batch size on assigned products
  13. Ensuring compliance with quality standards (NSF, ISO, etc.) in the areas of process control, materials control, purchasing, and product identification & traceability.
  14. Provide operational support to personnel as needed to ensure customer demands are met.
  15. Must be able to work overtime and provide physical labor as required to meet business requirements.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned in support of business goals and objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Requires organizational and planning skills to meet daily and weekly production schedules.
  • Knowledge of warehousing, and inventory control processes.
  • Must be dependable, flexible, and able to respond on short notice to satisfy requirements of customers.
  • Requires good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong Analytical and Mathematical aptitude with practical understanding of business operations
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Computer literate with proficiency using ERP based systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive, and energy

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum Required- Associate degree or Certifications in Logistics, Business, Operations Management or Manufacturing Management required, a Bachelor's Degree is preferred
  • 4 to 6 years of progressive manufacturing, Production Management and transportation experience will be considered without the required degree.
  • APICS certification and familiarity with Class A Supply Chain certification preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years hands on planning and scheduling experience
  • Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Food manufacturing, or Warehouse environment, preferred.
  • NSF and ISO processes with procedure and audit experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to effectively work with Microsoft Office Applications, especially Excel, at a high-level proficiency.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge and experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

The Ability to:

  • Maintain confidentiality of personnel information, and company processes and strategies,
  • Routinely sits 80 to 90% of shift
  • Be flexible with work hours to meet demands of this position
